VPN for Windows 2000, XP, VISTA
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. Using VPN, you create a virtual, secure
network that connects your computer to the CVTC network. CVTC uses Cisco Systems VPN Client to create a VPN connection. At this time, CVTC's policy only allows Faculty and Staff to use VPN technology.
Use of the software is subject to restrictions detailed in the license agreement. You will
only need to install the client once on your home computer.
There is separate documentation for the Macintosh OS.
You will need to click the link below and unzip the installation file.
Cisco VPN Client
- Once you have unzipped the files, double click the .exe file.
- NOTE: Because of VISTA’s security notices, you may get a message similar to the one below. You will need to allow, or run the installation of the VPN client.

- The installation wizard will begin. Click Next to begin the installation.
- Click I accept the license agreement and click Next.

- Leave the default destination folder and click Next.

- Click to Next install the VPN Client.

- When the installation has completed, you will be asked if you want to reboot your computer.
You must reboot your computer before you try to launch the VPN Client.
After you have installed the CVTC configuration. (see above) You can
connect the VPN Client. You will need to connect the VPN Client each time you plan to access your
CVTC N: or S: Drive.
- Open the Cisco Systems VPN Client from the Programs Menu and click VPN Client to launch the program.
- Click the Connect button.

- You will be prompted to enter your Username and Password. Enter your CVTC
username and password, which is the same information you use to login onto
a CVTC computer and click OK.
- Review the Authorization notice. By clicking on Continue, you agree to abide
by the rules of use.
- After the authentication is completed a lock icon appears in the System Tray.

- Once you have connected the VPN Client, you can connect to the CVTC N: and S: drives.
- In the System Tray, right click VPN Client icon
and select Disconnect.
