Outlook Changes

This summer, CVTC's employee email system was upgraded to Exchange 2007. This upgrade brought three main changes to the user interface:

Improved Out of Office Assistant

The Out of Office Assistant has two new features: 1) the ability to schedule your Out of Office message by setting a start and end date 2) the ability to create two different Out of Office messages: one which will reply to messages sent from from your organization, and one which will reply to messages sent from anyone not from your organization, or if specified, your Contacts list. View more information on this feature.

Improved Scheduling

How often have you used Outlook's meeting request capabilities, only to find that you still need to scroll all over the place to find a time that works for all participants? The new Scheduling Assistant takes a look at the calendars of everyone you've invited to a meeting and checks to see if they are all available and then suggests what days and times work best for everyone you’ve invited. Exchange then color-codes each day on a calendar to let you know which days are good and which are not. A dark blue day is very poor; in other words, your attendees are mostly busy. A light blue day is a little better. A white day means that your chosen attendees are mostly free.
