Title III purchased exciting new software called SoftChalk that allows instructors to easily turn a plain Word document into a professional-looking interactive web page that works inside Blackboard. This product will be essential for online and hybrid instructors and greatly enhance traditional web-enhanced courses. Instructors will be able to create pop-ups (for terms or additional information), interactive quizzes, crossword puzzles, flash cards, labeling activities, and much more. A bonus is that content creators do NOT need to be web developers to use SoftChalk. The user interface is very similar to Microsoft Word 2003.
The first training sessions took place during May Academy, and many instructors have been using it to enhance their course content. Instructors who describe themselves as “not computer people” are having a great time creating valuable learning experiences for their students. Watch for Early Bird sessions during In-Service with additional sessions throughout the semester.
