Teaching Stations

New Teaching Station.jpgMost classrooms in the Health Education and Business Education centers are being outfitted with new and improved Teaching Stations.  Updates to other campuses are tentatively scheduled to begin before spring semester 2009.  The three-year goal is to outfit every classroom with this setup.  The new equipment offers huge improvements in ease of use and is much faster than previous models.

New features of the Teaching Stations include:

  • the stations run independently of the computer so you can play an item such as a dvd without having to first boot up the computer
  • they take less than 20 seconds to be ready to display
  • all stations are equipped with an extra adapter to connect to a laptop or tablet computer
  • there are only two steps to using them – push the “ON” button and push the input type button. The input type options include the standard classroom PC, a laptop or tablet, Document Camera, and DVD/VCR Player
  • there are now speakers in the ceilings, so instructors will have more space on the desk and not need to contend with difficulty hearing for students in the back of the room
  • the remote controls for the projector are only necessary to “freeze” the display

Documentation for these new stations will be in each classroom and training sessions have been scheduled during Faculty In-Service.
